1. Introduction

Welcome to Crossword Weave. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, disclosed, retained, and protected when you install, access, or use the Crossword Weave mobile application, related services, and any associated support channels (collectively, the “Service”). It also explains the choices and rights that may be available to you under applicable privacy laws.

Crossword Weave is a word-puzzle game. We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide, secure, improve, and support the Service. We do not sell your personal information. We do not require you to create an account merely to play offline portions of the game. Some features, platforms, advertising providers, analytics providers, or operating-system services may process additional information as described below.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service. This Privacy Policy is intended to supplement, not replace, any privacy disclosures shown by your device platform, app store, advertising consent dialog, or another service provider.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

You may provide information when you contact support, report a problem, submit feedback, participate in a promotion, or otherwise communicate with us. This may include your name or nickname, email address, the contents of your message, screenshots, and any other information you choose to include.

If Crossword Weave supports an optional profile, cloud save, leaderboard, social, or sign-in feature, you may provide a display name, account identifier, avatar, authentication token, or similar information. The Service does not need your real name to provide ordinary gameplay. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information in support requests or public profile fields.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we and service providers acting on our behalf may receive technical and usage information, such as device model, operating-system version, language, country or region, application version, time zone, network type, app configuration, approximate session times, feature interactions, puzzle progress, scores, purchase status, error information, crash reports, and performance diagnostics.

Depending on your device and permissions, we may also receive a resettable advertising identifier, an app-instance or installation identifier, a push-notification token, IP address, and information supplied by the operating system. An IP address may be used to provide the Service, prevent abuse, estimate a general location such as city or country, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use an IP address to determine your precise physical location.

We do not intentionally collect precise GPS location, contacts, call history, SMS content, microphone recordings, camera images, or files stored on your device for ordinary gameplay. If a future feature requires access to one of these categories, we will request the relevant permission and provide an additional explanation before collection.

2.3 Information stored on your device

Gameplay settings, completed puzzles, preferences, language choices, accessibility choices, and progress may be stored locally on your device. Some local data may remain available after you close the app. Deleting the app normally removes local app data, subject to the behavior of your device, operating system, backup service, or platform account.

If you enable a cloud, platform, or account-based save feature, relevant progress may be synchronized with that feature. Removing local data does not necessarily delete data already synchronized to a platform account. Use the controls provided by the applicable platform or contact support if you need help.

2.4 Purchases and payments

Purchases made through an app store are processed by the applicable platform provider, such as Apple or Google, rather than directly by Crossword Weave. We may receive transaction-related information needed to deliver or restore an in-app purchase, such as a transaction identifier, product identifier, purchase state, renewal state, country or storefront, and a verification result. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number through the Service.

The platform provider may independently process payment, billing, tax, subscription, refund, and account information under its own terms and privacy policy. Please review the policy of the store from which you obtained Crossword Weave.

2.5 Advertising information

If the version of Crossword Weave that you use displays advertising, advertising partners may process information such as an advertising identifier, IP address, device information, approximate location, ad interaction, and limited app usage information to provide, measure, limit, or personalize advertising. The precise information depends on the advertising partners integrated into your version of the Service and the choices available in your region.

Where required by law, we request consent before using information for personalized advertising. You can also use the privacy, advertising, and tracking controls provided by your device or app store. Refusing personalized advertising should not prevent access to ordinary gameplay, although you may still see contextual or less personalized advertisements.

2.6 Information from third parties

We may receive information from app stores, operating-system services, authentication providers, cloud-save providers, analytics services, crash-reporting services, advertising partners, payment processors, and other providers that help us operate the Service. Examples include purchase verification, fraud or abuse signals, crash diagnostics, attribution data, and an account or device identifier.

Third-party providers may collect information directly from your device under their own notices. Their processing is governed by their privacy policies and consent tools. We encourage you to review the notices presented by those providers when you use a related feature.

3. How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • to provide, maintain, and personalize Crossword Weave and its gameplay features;
  • to save or synchronize progress when you choose a relevant feature;
  • to process, validate, restore, and support purchases;
  • to respond to questions, feedback, bug reports, and support requests;
  • to detect crashes, diagnose errors, measure performance, and improve stability;
  • to understand which features are used and improve puzzles, accessibility, design, and content;
  • to deliver, measure, limit, and manage advertising where applicable;
  • to prevent cheating, fraud, spam, abuse, security incidents, and unauthorized access;
  • to enforce our terms, protect the rights and safety of users and others, and investigate suspected violations;
  • to comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, court, and law-enforcement requirements; and
  • to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and protect our legitimate business interests.

We may combine information collected from the Service with information from a platform or provider when reasonably necessary for one of these purposes. We do not use the content of your private support message for unrelated advertising.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation, the United Kingdom GDPR, or a similar law applies, our legal basis depends on the context. We may process information because it is necessary to perform a contract with you, to provide a feature you request, to comply with a legal obligation, to protect vital interests, because it is necessary for our legitimate interests, or because you have provided consent.

Our legitimate interests may include operating and securing the Service, preventing abuse, understanding performance, improving gameplay, answering support requests, and protecting our business and users. We balance these interests against your rights and expectations. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it at any time through the relevant in-app, device, or browser control. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

5. Cookies, Similar Technologies, and Mobile Identifiers

Mobile applications do not use browser cookies in the same way as websites, but the Service and its providers may use local storage, SDKs, device identifiers, app-instance identifiers, pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies. These technologies can remember settings, recognize an installation, understand whether a feature works, measure campaigns, prevent fraud, and support advertising.

You can reset or restrict certain identifiers through your device settings. Available controls vary by operating system and may change over time. Restricting a technology may affect preferences, attribution, advertising measurement, cloud saves, or other features. A provider may continue to use information needed for security, fraud prevention, or basic service delivery after you opt out of optional measurement.

6. When We Share Information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. We share information with vendors that host systems, provide analytics, process crash reports, deliver notifications, verify purchases, provide customer support, prevent fraud, serve advertising, or otherwise process information for us under contractual or organizational safeguards.
  • Platform and account services. We share or receive information through the app store, operating system, authentication service, cloud save, leaderboard, or other feature you choose to use.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, respond to a valid government request, investigate fraud or abuse, protect people, or protect our rights, property, and security.
  • Business transfers. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar transaction. We will require the recipient to handle personal information consistently with this Privacy Policy or provide a legally required notice.
  • With your direction. We may disclose information when you ask us to or clearly authorize a feature to share it, such as a public score, profile, or support attachment.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information with data brokers for their independent marketing databases. A privacy law may define “sale” or “sharing” broadly to include certain advertising activities; where such a definition applies, you may exercise the relevant opt-out rights described below.

7. International Data Transfers

Crossword Weave and its providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection rules. When required, we use an approved transfer mechanism, contractual safeguards, adequacy decision, or another lawful basis for international transfers. You may contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

8. Data Retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Retention depends on the type of information, why it was collected, whether you continue to use the Service, whether a legal or accounting obligation applies, whether a dispute exists, and whether the information is needed to prevent fraud or protect security.

Support correspondence is generally kept for as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable record of the issue. Transaction records may be retained for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal purposes. Aggregated or de-identified information may be kept longer when it can no longer reasonably identify you. Backups may retain deleted information for a limited period before being overwritten or securely deleted.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Measures may include access controls, least-privilege practices, encryption in transit where supported, provider security controls, monitoring, and incident-response procedures.

No service, device, network, or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device and any account credentials, keeping your operating system updated, and notifying us promptly if you believe your account or information has been misused. If a legally reportable security incident occurs, we will provide notices required by applicable law.

10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal information, a copy of it, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or information about how it is used. You may also have the right to object to certain processing, withdraw consent, opt out of targeted advertising or certain forms of sharing, and appeal a decision concerning your request.

You can often control optional processing by changing in-app privacy settings, resetting your advertising identifier, restricting tracking, managing notification permissions, disabling cloud or social features, or uninstalling the Service. These controls do not necessarily delete information held by an app store, operating-system provider, advertising partner, or other independent third party.

To submit a privacy request, contact the developer through the support contact published with the Crossword Weave app listing. Include “Privacy Request” in the subject line and describe the request, the country or state where you reside, and the email address or identifier previously used to contact us, if any. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests. We will not use verification information for an unrelated purpose.

We will respond within the period required by applicable law. If we cannot grant a request, we will explain the reason when legally permitted and tell you how to appeal or complain to the relevant data-protection authority. You may use an authorized agent where permitted by law; we may require proof of authorization.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act and related laws may give you additional rights. Subject to exceptions, you may request to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the sources and purposes of collection, and the categories of recipients. You may request deletion or correction, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and receive equal service regardless of exercising a privacy right.

Crossword Weave does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. If advertising technology used by a particular version of the Service is considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, you may opt out using the applicable in-app control, device tracking control, or the privacy request process above. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of children under 16.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right. We may retain information that is necessary to provide a requested service, complete a transaction, detect security incidents, comply with law, or perform another purpose allowed by law.

12. Children’s Privacy

Crossword Weave is not directed to children under the minimum age required by the laws of the country where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us through the support contact published with the app listing. We will investigate and take steps required by law, which may include deleting the information.

Parents and guardians should review the device, app-store, family, advertising, and purchase controls available on the device and platform used by the child. Some platform services may apply their own age-based rules and parental-consent processes.

13. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service may contain links to an app store, support page, social service, or third-party website. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their independent privacy practices. When you leave Crossword Weave or use a third-party feature, the third party’s terms and privacy notice apply. Review those notices before submitting information.

Third-party SDKs may collect information directly. The set of SDKs can differ by operating system, country, distribution channel, app version, consent choice, and whether advertising is enabled. This Privacy Policy describes the categories and purposes relevant to Crossword Weave; it does not replace the privacy notice of an independent provider.

14. Do Not Track

The Service responds to Do Not Track, Limit Ad Tracking, or Global Privacy Control signals where supported or required by law. You can also use your device privacy settings.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.

16. Contact

For questions or privacy requests, contact the developer through the support contact published with the Crossword Weave app listing. Please do not send passwords or payment-card numbers.
